Barry Anniversary Party

Ten years ago, Glenn Kissick, a senior new to Southwest Edmonton, asked a question “Where do seniors gather together in this part of the city?”.  The question sparked broader discussion among seniors and the interest in having a seniors activity centre in SW Edmonton – just as there existed in all other parts of the City.

The Terwillegar Riverbend Advisory Council (TRAC) helped bring the discussion together with the City of Edmonton and in 2011 there was agreement to start the planning for what would become SouthWest Edmonton Seniors Association (SWESA). In 2012 the new non profit society of SWESA was established.

And now, ten years later, SWESA is celebrating their 10th year, beginning with an Anniversary Party on June 9, 2022.  Attendees will enjoy visual displays, activity demonstrations, a 50/50 raffle and draw prizes, music and giveaway bags. We will have a ceremony beginning around 3:00pm with free refreshments and dessert.

We are looking for volunteers to help at the event! If you are interested in helping out please email volunteer@swesa.ca to sign up. Shifts are 2 – 4 hours long and there is a variety of roles available.

Please note due to COVID-19 we will be limiting our capacity. We are asking interested attendees to please RSVP ahead by calling 587-987-3200 or email info@swesa.ca. You can also RSVP through My Senior Center if you have an existing login for SWESA at https://myactivecenter.com/

As part of this celebration, SWESA will be launching an exciting new project. Stay tuned for more information.
